Chat, Cowork, Custom, Workflows, and Coding Agents: Choosing the Right AI Agent for the Job

“Agent” has become a catch-all term — but not all agents are built for the same work. This session breaks down the five types of agents people encounter today, what each is genuinely good at, and how to decide which one to reach for.

1. The agent landscape — why the distinctions matter
2. Chat agents — fast answers, grounded Q&A, and where they hit their limits
3. Cowork agents — multi-step work, real deliverables, and working across your data
4. Custom agents — purpose-built agents with your knowledge, tone, and guardrails
5. Workflow agents — deterministic, triggered, repeatable automation
6. Coding agents — building, refactoring, and shipping software
7. A practical decision framework: matching the agent to the task
8. Common mis-picks and what they cost you
9. Q&A

Benefits of Attending

• A clear, jargon-free mental model of the five agent types
• A decision framework attendees can apply the same day
• Real-world examples of when each type wins — and when it’s the wrong tool
• How the types combine in an end-to-end scenario
• Guidance on where to start if you’re early in your agent rollout

Is There a Demo?
Yes — three demos planned:

1. A chat agent answering a grounded question, compared side by side with a Cowork agent completing the same request as a finished deliverable
2. A custom agent configured for a specific business scenario
3. A workflow agent running on a trigger
