Every large organisation carries the same hidden liability: critical systems whose architecture, data models, business logic and data flows live in people’s heads rather than in any accessible, reliable source. When people move on, knowledge goes with them and every decision about those systems becomes a bet. This session walks through a real case: a leading European insurer with a complex ecosystem of .NET applications, SSIS data pipelines, SQL databases, Dynamics 365 and interconnected data models needed to understand what they actually had not just the applications, but the data layer underneath: how information moves, transforms and connects across the organisation before they could plan what to change. Velorum automatically built a structural knowledge graph of the entire ecosystem inside the insurer’s own Azure tenant, covering both the application architecture and the data layer turning months of manual discovery into days. Veltech, an AI & Data consulting and services company and Velorum’s strategic partner, provided the technical and strategic muscle to put that knowledge to work across the organisation. The result: visual exploration of cross-system and cross-data dependencies, natural-language queries across the full architecture, and the ability to evaluate the downstream consequences of any proposed change before executing it. We’ll show how it works on the real case, what it revealed, and why structural knowledge is becoming a permanent organisational asset rather than a one-off project deliverable.
